Duke Scholars Present at CTSA KL2 Virtual Symposium
The 8th annual Duke CTSA KL2 symposium was held on Tuesday, June 14. A virtual event since 2020, the symposium features presentations from the graduating KL2 scholars and congratulations and personal thoughts about each scholar from the primary mentors. This year, four KL2 scholars are exiting the program after successfully completing the program:

Rasheed Gbadegesin Named Director of Office of Physician-Scientist Development
Rasheed Gbadegesin, MD, has been named Associate Dean for Physician-Scientist Development and Director of the Office of Physician-Scientist Development (OPSD), a school-wide initiative focused on the training and support of physician-scientists. Dr. Gbadegesin has served as the inaugural faculty director of OPSD since 2018.
KL2 Scholar Appears on Cell Mentor's 1,000 Inspiring Black Scientists List
Duke CTSA KL2 Scholar Carlene Moore, PhD, recently appeared on a list of 1,000 inspiring black scientists in the U.S. Dr. Moore was one of 13 Duke scientists on the list, published by Cell Mentor, an online resource and blog for researchers.
Dr. Moore joined the Duke KL2 program in 2018 as a member of the sixth cohort. Her research focuses on the role that TRPV4 ion channels play in the conduction and perception of pain.
Duke CTSA KL2 Program Named a Top-Performing Hub
The Duke CTSA KL2 program was recently identified as one of the top program hubs by the Center for Leading Innovation and Collaboration (CLIC). The Duke KL2 program was a top performer in the KL2 education program – Underrepresented measure.
Duke CTSA KL2 Program Welcomes Two New Scholars
The Duke CTSA KL2 program provides training opportunities and protected research effort for junior investigators. KL2 scholars will leave the 3-year program equipped with the skills to be successful, independent investigators, making contributions across the spectrum of clinical and translational science. This year, two new investigators will join the program: Joshua Thaden, MD, PhD; and Michelle White, MD, MPH.
