Call for Posters: 2014 Community Engagement Conference

July 13 deadline for submitting abstracts for poster presentations

July 9, 2014

You are invited to submit a poster abstract for the the 2014 Community Engagement Conference, which will be held in Bethesda, MD at the North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center from the 21– 22 of August 2014.

Academic faculty or staff, trainees, community based health care providers and community researchers interested in participating in the poster sessions are invited to submit abstracts that reflect the conference theme: “Engaging Patients, Families, and Communities in all Phases of Translational Research to Improve Health”. Abstracts should demonstrate feasible and replicable methods and metrics developed by and with communities that have improved individual and community health, particularly within underserved communities.

The deadline for abstracts is July 13.

The audience for this conference will include community researchers, practice based researchers and academic researchers interested in community engagement and partnerships in research as well as those interested in community engaged research. In addition, the abstract template requires each submission to include two key words and to indicate the most relevant conference aim when appropriate.  This requirement is to facilitate grouping posters so that submitters will also have an opportunity to interact with others who are engaged in work on closely related topics.

The aim of this year’s conference is to present and compare perspectives of community-engaged research, which can involve individual patients, families, community organizations and disease advocates, as well as clinicians and researchers. We hope to provide everyone with an opportunity to interact with - and learn from - one another.

View the agenda and submit your abstract presentations (deadline July 13) to be included at the conference.
