The U.S. Department of Energy's EnergyTech University Prize (EnergyTech UP) competition tasks student teams from across the U.S. with identifying a high-potential energy technology, assessing its market potential, and proposing a strategy for commercialization. The competition will award $250,000 in prizes. Five Duke University student teams will compete at a EnergyTech UP Regional Explore Event hosted by the Research Triangle Cleantech Cluster. Twelve student teams from across the Carolinas region will present their business plans to commercialize innovative energy technologies, and expert judges will identify the top team selected to move on to the national competition in March as well as semi-finalists in a number of bonus categories. Jason Massey, cofounder and CEO at ndustrial and the 2021 winner of the RTCC Cleantech Impact: Energy Award, will be a featured guest speaker at the event, sharing his story of energy technology innovation and entrepreneurial success. Anyone can tune in to the event virtually.
